What Social Media means for Ecommerce – Talk Like a Marketer Series (Video)

A lot of ecommerce stores get this wrong. In this episode in our “Talk Like a Marketer” series, we’re talking about Social Media and how it relates to your ecommerce marketing strategy.

Hey there. In this week’s episode of Talk Like a Marketer, we are talking about social media. What is social media? I think a lot of brands get this wrong. Social media is where people are coming together to have conversations. Social media was really important to understand, as an eCommerce store especially, is that this is not just advertising. What it is is it’s starting a conversation and how do you do that? What is it your customers want to know and then how can you connect the people, the products and the information to make sure that you are the source that they go to when they want to buy your product? How can you get those conversations going?

The first thing you need to focus on if you’re a new retailer is which of the social media platforms do you want to be on and do not feel like you have to be on all of them because there are tons.

It’s Facebook, it’s Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, Pinterest, Snapchat, Reddit, those are just a few of the bigger ones and there’s a lot more out there than that.

The first question you need to ask yourself is where are your customers?

You have to be on Facebook. Number one, you must be on Facebook and if you want to pick of two of the other channels to find the platforms, number one, where your customers are and number two, that you like to use.

That’s my take today on Talk Like a Marketer, social media. We’re going to go into a lot of depth on this in the coming weeks and months but in the meantime if you liked this video give it a thumbs up and subscribe to my channel to see more videos like this. See you soon.
